Privacy Policy
The Constitution of the Republic of Korea guarantees the secrecy and freedom of individuals’ private lives and the confidentiality of communications as fundamental rights. Therefore, any unauthorized surveillance or wiretapping that infringes on personal information or the privacy of individuals is, in principle, illegal. However, illegal wiretapping and the leakage of personal information through various communication channels are prevalent in our society, leading to serious violations of human rights and posing a threat to individuals’ freedom to lead autonomous lives. In order to fundamentally eliminate the possibility of such violations of basic rights, and to thoroughly protect the privacy of SOONSOOHAEJAK members while ensuring freedom of communication in the information society, we hereby establish this Privacy Protection Policy. This policy may be revised in accordance with changes in government laws and guidelines, or due to internal policy updates at SOONSOOHAEJAK. We encourage all users to review the policy regularly when visiting our website.
1. Purpose of Collection and Use of Personal Information
The purpose of collecting personal information from SOONSOOHAEJAK members is to provide personalized and optimized services through the SOONSOOHAEJAK website. SOONSOOHAEJAK offers a wide range of both free and paid content. Based on the personal information provided by our members, we are able to selectively deliver more relevant and useful information tailored to each individual’s interests and needs. In order to offer various services, SOONSOOHAEJAK may display advertisements. Even in such cases, we may use members’ personal information to deliver advertisements that are more relevant and valuable to them.
2. Items of Personal Information Collected and Methods of Collection
SOONSOOHAEJAK collects only the minimum essential personal information necessary to provide services at the time of initial membership registration. The information collected upon registration includes: Date of birth, username (ID), marital status, nickname, referral ID, password, full name, email address, mailing address, phone number, and mobile phone number. In addition, for the provision of certain services, additional information may be requested.
This may include mobile phone numbers for identity verification or other supplementary information necessary for service delivery. We may also request personal information for purposes such as statistical analysis in surveys or events, or for prize delivery. Even in such cases, the information you provide will be used solely for the specified service or purpose clearly communicated in advance, and will not be used for any other purpose.
3. Retention and Disposal of Personal Information
While you are a registered member of SOONSOOHAEJAK and are receiving services from us, your personal information will be retained and used by SOONSOOHAEJAK for the purpose of providing such services. However, if you request to delete your account or withdraw your membership in accordance with the procedures described in Section 7, “Access, Correction, and Deletion of Personal Information”, or if the purpose for which your information was collected, as previously disclosed, has been fulfilled, the relevant personal information will be permanently deleted from our system using methods that make recovery impossible, such as secure deletion from the hard disk. Once deleted, the information will no longer be accessible or used for any purpose.
4. Provision and Sharing of Personal Information
In principle, SOONSOOHAEJAK does not disclose members’ personal information to any third party, company, or institution. However, an exception may be made in cases where the member has given explicit consent for such disclosure, or when there is sufficient reason to believe that the disclosure of personal information is necessary in order to take legal action against individuals who violate SOONSOOHAEJAK’s Terms of Service, cause harm to others, or engage in actions that are against public morals or deemed socially unacceptable while using SOONSOOHAEJAK’s services. SOONSOOHAEJAK may also share members’ personal information with its business partners for the purpose of providing better services. In such cases, SOONSOOHAEJAK will inform the member in advance of the identity of the business partner, the specific information to be shared, the purpose of sharing, and the duration and method of protection and management of such information. No additional personal information will be collected or shared with any business partner without the member’s prior consent.
Additionally, when advertisements or notifications are sent based on certain demographic criteria (e.g., women in their 20s), personal information will not be disclosed to the advertisers or any external organizations. For statistical analysis, academic research, or market surveys, only anonymized data that does not identify individual members will be used.
If the member does not consent, no additional information will be collected or shared with the business partner. When advertising or sending promotions targeted at specific demographics (e.g., women in their 20s), personal information is not disclosed to advertisers or external organizations. In cases of statistical analysis, academic research, or market surveys, data may be provided only in an anonymized and unidentifiable format.
5. Use and Management of Cookies
In order to provide each member with personalized and customized services, SOONSOOHAEJAK uses ‘cookies’ that store and retrieve user information as needed. A cookie is a small data file sent by the server operating the website to the user’s web browser, and it is stored on the hard drive of the user’s computer.
To use personalized and customized services after logging in to SOONSOOHAEJAK, cookies must be enabled. SOONSOOHAEJAK uses cookies to identify information associated with the user’s ID in order to deliver more relevant and useful services. Cookies are also used to assign a unique cookie to each visitor’s browser, allowing SOONSOOHAEJAK to track overall usage metrics such as the number of visitors, frequency of use by members and non-members, and other usage patterns on the website. In addition, cookies may be used to assist with product purchases or user authentication in the SOONSOOHAEJAK shopping section, and to confirm participation in events or surveys.
By tracking which SOONSOOHAEJAK services a member visits and how they are used, we can provide more convenient and valuable services tailored to the user’s needs. Members have the option to manage cookie settings. Through the settings in your web browser, you can allow all cookies, receive a prompt before a cookie is stored, and block all cookies. Please note, however, that if you choose to block all cookies, you may not be able to access any SOONSOOHAEJAK services that require login.
6. Technical and Administrative Measures for the Protection of Personal Information
Your personal information is protected by a password. Only you have access to your account password, and the verification or modification of personal information can only be done by the person who knows the password. Therefore, you should never share your password with anyone. In addition, it is strongly recommended that you log out and close your web browser after finishing your session—especially when using a shared or public computer—to prevent your personal information from being disclosed to others.
SOONSOOHAEJAK implements antivirus programs to prevent damage caused by computer viruses. These antivirus programs are updated regularly, and in the event of a sudden virus outbreak, the updated version is provided immediately to prevent any compromise of personal information.
To protect against the unauthorized leakage of personal information due to hacking or similar attacks, we use security devices such as firewalls to block external intrusions. Each server is equipped with an intrusion detection system (IDS) that monitors for malicious activity 24/7. In addition, we regularly back up system data to prevent data loss in the event of an emergency.
SOONSOOHAEJAK strictly limits access to personal information to a minimum number of authorized personnel. Those who handle personal data receive regular training to ensure compliance with this privacy policy. We also conduct audits through our internal audit committee to verify the implementation of this policy and the conduct of responsible staff. Any identified violations are addressed and corrected immediately.
7. Access, Correction, and Deletion of Personal Information
Members may, at any time, view or correct their registered personal information and may also request the deletion of their account (ID).
